Die alte Burg diente dem Zweck des Zwanges, der Burgherr zog selbst machtvoll alle Zügel, und statt im Staub zu kriechen, dem gelang es zu fliehen, auch mit gebrochenem Flügel.
So, wie man Reben an die Pfähle bindet, hielt man sich fest am Kreuz der Kathedralen, damit der ‚Geist‘ voll Süße hoch sich windet, ließ man das arme Volk für Lügen zahlen.
Der Prunk des Klerus leuchtet in den Hallen, wenn eitler Glanz Tiara’s Rom verhüllt. Wo ist der milde Herr, der in uns allen durch seine Lehre Seelenkummer stillt?
Sucht in den Quellen, tief in uns vergraben, nicht in den Türmen vor Jahrtausenden gemauert; schöpft wie aus Wasser, das mit heil’gen Gaben gefüllt, vom Eis gelöst, die Wahrheit überdauert.
